Title: GCN AR to WiiRD CodeType Converter
Post by: James0x57 on July 30, 2008, 11:53:53 AM
Do you prefer the GameCube Action Replay CodeTypes over the new WiiRD CodeTypes?
- or -
If you are capable of using WiiRD with your GameCube games, do you wish to (for your personal use) use some old GCN AR Codes but with the WiiRD code handler?

Then look no further!
Simply paste decrypted GCN AR codes on the left, press a button and have WiiRD-ready codes on the right!
http://gcn.jaytheham.com/ARtoWiiRD_v0.9.zip

Have fun my friends and please tell me if you have any errors! :D

-Example-

GCN Code input:
8bit if equal bitwise, next 2 lines
8bit pointer at 80047878 with ofset of 13E8 write 57
16bit pointer at 80047878 with ofset 123*2 write 0101

Random Code Name
78047871 00000057
40047878 0013E857
42047878 01230101

WiiRD Code output:

Random Code Name
28047870 FFA80057
48000000 80047878
DE000000 80008180
100013E8 00000057
E2000001 80008000
48000000 80047878
DE000000 80008180
12000246 00000101
E2000002 80008000

Look at that!
It even verifies that the pointer is in mem1 for you!
(updated version will include work-around conversions for ALL GCN AR codetypes. This version has Nearly all of them. :) )

NOTE: Great for people who need a hand at understanding WiiRD codetypes! Use the more simple (less powerful) GCN AR CodeTypes to create your codes and before you post, run them through my program for accurate WiiRD ready codes!

Enjoy!

This is a standalone tool that makes Wii codes out of GCN AR codes. The codes would not work with Ocarina because Ocarina can't yet use GCN games.
USB Gecko, however, works on the GameCube and uses WiiRD.

Technically Ocarina can work on Gamecube and GC mode for Wii, but would need an external SD Gecko or similar, as once in GC mode, the front SD access is gone David Blaine style.

lol

I need to get an SD Gecko then. I really want to use WiiRD codes on my GCN games through my Wii. :D
(it's also important to this project because of the offset problem thing that may occur!)

What file do I need to run to use this on gamecube? I have SDLoad with the Action Replay on the original console.

This would be great, but I don't know what file I need to run. Using Gecko OS, it doesn't let me...

EDIT: I also have an SDGecko.

I am aware of that, but what good is having WiiRd format codes if Gecko OS disallows Gamecube discs? I am asking, essentially, what DOL file I need to run to boot it- My Gamecube is Homebrew compatible. That is my question.

Look in the downloads section on this site. There's a Gamecube DOL version of Gecko OS. That's what should work.

No problem.

Also James, what are the GCN codetypes that don't have a WiiRd codetype equalivalent? I think I remember you saying 32 unsigned conditionals are not supported, but I can't remember for sure.

Since the new release of Gecko OS with Ocarina, and Gecko OS can boot gamecube games, with that version of Ocarina... would we be able to use WiiRD GCN Codes with the new Gecko OS?

GCN CRYPT turns from GCN AR codetype to hex and then this program converts them. (only decrypted codes tho)

When i put this code in it told me this, i put the code in too.

01E019BB 00000000
283ED84A 00000020
No WiiRD CodeType for GCN AR CodeType- Increment.
E2000001 80008000

BTW i use ocarina booted of Gecko OS.
Do i still need to use the GCN TO WIIRD  code convertor?

if it says that then the code is not compatible and the code cannot be converted 0.o so it works for GCN AR but not WiiRD and can't be transferred and work properly

It means that if you have a usbgecko and your Wii is able to run the GC version of geckoOs, then you could use wiird to apply cheats to GC games.

If you are running Windows, you should be able to run it just by double clicking the JAR (I think).

Otherwise:

Code:
java -Xmx512m -jar "folder/file_name.jar"

should open it just fine, assuming 'java' is in your environment path (replacing folder and file_name with their respective names).

its a codetype converter, the codes must be decrypted first with another program. I think it was GCNcrypt if i recall correctly.

Title: Re: GCN AR to WiiRD CodeType Converter
Post by: James0x57 on June 13, 2010, 02:01:57 PM
Decrypt with GCNCrypt, yep.

If the codetype was 00, 02, or 04, it's the same in WiiRD so it wouldn't change. If they come from decrypted GCN codes, make sure you check the box about the verifier line. :)

I converted my AR code in gcncrypt (skies of arcadia, code from codekunkies) then in artowiird it always outputs the same code or blank.

Do someone know why?

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply.

Here is the codes I am trying to convert :

Original AR :

(m)
ZUXE-F7VV-NNUBR
RDXM-ZC3A-67BBE

Infinite Gold
HB45-WGW7-QM6NG
Z0F5-YQ5V-1W7GN

Converted with GCNCRYPT 1.5 :

(m)
018C10C4 88000000
C424F2EC 0000FF00

Infinite Gold
018C10C5 08000000
0430BB40 05F5E0FF

In artowiird with box "verifier line" checked :

(m)

Infinite Gold
0430BB40 05F5E0FF

(same result if I keep only the second code line).

I often used gcncrypt 1.5 for my modded gamecube (viper with integrated cheat), but now I want to use my wii to play it.

Thanks and regards,

Brad

...hmm

and you're sure that code doesn't work?

The reason its outputting the same code is because the codetypes are similar but not all the same for GCN and Wii. I'm almost positive that the 04 codetypes are the same though.

Just a guess, but you could try re-installing Java.

On another note, you could also post what codes you're trying to convert. (They should be decrypted Action Replay codes.)

Well, I'm not too knowledgable with this program or Java, so my best guess would be to try a different version of Java.

If not, redownload the AR to WiiRd application.

Again, though - You could always post the codes you are trying to convert.

Windows x64

http://gcn.jaytheham.com/GCNtoWiiRD.zip

There's the source for the exe version (and probably a lot of extra crap). AFAIK, the exe only worked on computers that had visual studio installed.. but somehow it's working on my windows 7 64 bit computer without VS installed.
The exe is in there too. Might want to try that.

I'll see if I can find the java version's source somewhere... no idea where it is.

edit: 7z didn't have the exe in it, link updated, exe is in there

Sounds like a manifest problem.  It's having trouble finding some library.

James, you said it previously worked only with VS installed?  Was the app built with the Visual C++ Runtime?  If so, you'd probably need to install the vcredist for the CRT that it was targeting.  When VS is installed I think it puts the CRT into the GAC, which is why it would work.

EDIT:

err...the project you uploaded is Visual Studio...but the AR to WiiRD converter I have on my machine is a Java file??

Ileikcaik - go here http://www.java.com/en/ then click "Free Java Download" and then on the next page "Agree and Start Free Download".  You will then download Java.  Install that.  Probably will have to reboot.  Then, try to run the AR to WiiRD.jar again.

"source for the exe version"
"AFAIK, the exe only worked on computers that had visual studio"
"I'll see if I can find the java version's source somewhere... no idea where it is."

is anyone interested in the java source?

Which one is better?  Honestly, I'm more of a C-ish guy myself.  I guess I was just expressing surprise that there was a non-Java version at all.

Hmmm Well What comes up is a black command screen and It says Error and exits off.

Java one is platform independent, so I tend to like it better.
Exe came out before the java one but then I kept being told that the exe didn't work unless they had visual studio. So I ported it.
They're identical aside from the java one doesn't have a custom app icon.

I'll go turn on my old computer now and see if I can find the java source.. I might have made it on my hosed laptop though so it could be gone forever.

I can't find the java source.

The java runtime environment could be installed wrong but I have no idea. The jar works on my windows 7 64bit machine.. *shrugs*

Good luck

I'll see if I can figure out which vcredist it depends on and then let everyone know.

Judging by the manifest that was lying around, if "AR to WiiRD.exe" doesn't work for you, then it looks like you might want to install this

Oh sweet... Thanks dcx2!

@hetoan2: You were what? Looking for the java source?
I could try to boot up the broken laptop and see if it stays on long enough to get the source off of it. Since it wasn't on my desktop, it's gotta be there..

it's okay if you can't. i just thought you were asking who in particular had asked you for the source. which i did a few months back

Found the java source:

http://gcn.jaytheham.com/ARtoWiiRD.zip

I released it as .9 because of the missing codetype conversions. The program is pretty brute-forced and probably no clever tricks... So it should be really easy to digest. But that was 3 years ago so don't judge for the nooby programming. lol
If anyone tops off the project, just please leave my name as part of it.

edit: The java app was built in NetBeans so if anyone wanted to pull up the project, doing so from NetBeans might be smoothest.

Hmm, I have it working on Linux 64-bit, and with the latest Java too (1.7). I'll have to try it out on Win7 if I get a chance to see if I get the same errors.

EDIT: Seems to work for me on Win7 as well; with both a 32-bit Java (1.6u26) and a 64-bit Java (1.7). My only guess would be to uninstall, then reinstall Java.

@James0x57 - hi there. It would be nice if there is an existing program (much like GCNCRYPT) that would convert SNES Action Replay codes to Wiird. If not, is there a chance of seeing one in the future? Thanx.

This program wouldn't work, because porting SNES PAR codes to the Wii require you to find an offset which is unique to each game.
A Hacker would have to port the codes manually, (which is a pretty simple process.)

Depending on the game, you could PM the codes, and the game(s) names which the codes belong to, to me and I could give it a go for you.

A little question:
I have the Gecko OS Gamecube-Version and I'm able to run it, now, when I put a sd Gecko with a SD Card that has those codes in the gct format on it in the Memory Card Slot B of my Wii, will I be able to use the cheats?

No, the GameCube version of GeckoOS does not support SD cheats, and uses a very old code handler.  Use NeoGamma; it supports SD cheats for GameCube and uses the latest (1931) code handler.
