Well, can it?

USB Gecko works on GameCube.
USB Gecko contains WiiRD.
Thus, WiiRD can be used to hack GCN codes.

Just make sure not to access Wii memory areas (90000000 to 93800000) in GC mode.. and it should work just fine!

Yes, but WiiRD's loading time is sooo large isn't it compatible with the Crazy Mod?

To hack anything with WiiRD you need USB Gecko.

I don't know if/how to hack GCN codes using it yet.

1. USB Gecko is the device which is inserted into Slot B of the Wii
2. WiiRD is the software you need to run on your pc/laptop to search for cheats as well as  other features you can access.
3. WiiRD requires to be connected to the USB Gecko via USB cable which is included with your purchase of a USB Gecko - otherwise how is WiiRD going to search for cheats? I can tell you right now WiiRd will not even start and will keep giving you a message that it cannot detect a USB Gecko.
4. WiiRD and USB Gecko can search and use Gamecube and Wii game codes

Are you running Gecko OS (GC version) by using a method of Gamecube Homebrew? Using any method of Wii Homebrew will not work. SD Media Launcher or a Modchip are your choices for Gamecube Homebrew. There are other options as well, such as SDload (Old Action Replay + SD Memory Card Adapter needed) and PSOload, but those most likely will not work on a Wii (one due to firmware; PSOload only works on a Gamecube).

I would get the SD Media Launcher, as it works on firmwares 3.2 and below on the Wii. I'm not sure if it works on 3.3 however.

EDIT: Forgot one important detail, SD Media Launcher is a product of Datel, and can be obtained at:

http://codejunkies.com/

Just navigate to the Gamecube page, they sell them without a SD card ($19.99USD), with a 1gb SD card, and a 2gb SD card.

so let me get this straight, there it "currently" no way to use SD cards with Decrypted AR codes on it, that GeckoOS can read, but the derypted codes will be detected if I buy and install the USBGecko thing?

I have deleted this post because i just learned that GeckoOS 106F.01 W/ Ocarina + GC does not yet support any GC code handling yet.

There is a way now - it is called Ocarina

http://www.usbgecko.com/files/geckoOS16f.zip

Try downloading that one - it comes with Gecko OS.

Once you got Gecko OS installed on Homebrew Channel save your decrypted codes onto an SD card and export to GCT.

Run the Ocarina application and Bob's your uncle.

By the way, it is best if you google specific instructions if i lost you somewhere in my explanation.

ok I basically did everything but I think I left something out, before I exported it says this: No Game ID Given! do you want to continue anyway? should I :p sorry if this sounds a little n00bish

I have gecko os and ocarina and hombrew channel. Heres what i did: Went to codejunkies and got a simple infinite rings cheat for sonic adventure 2 battle for gamecube. converted with gcncrypt. made txt file called sonic and put code in there. I have everything set up right in the txt file. export to gct, load up gecko os. launch game. 4 things say no by them. green screen. Then i play but i dont have cheat? what am i doing wrong

You can't use GCN codes yet on Gecko OS + Ocarina, you need a USB Gecko for this I believe. The GCN support was for GCN imports, not codes. It'll be supported later though once we have ALL the bugs and kinks out of Gecko OS. So, for now, you'll have to wait or you'll have to buy a Gecko if you're too impatient.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this though.

Im pretty sure SMK is correct with this answer. As fas as I know, Gecko OS does not support Gamecube Cheats via Ocarina. You will need a USB Gecko to load cheats for Gamecube, or in Gamecube mode on the Wii.

I downloaded the AR-WiiRD Converter, QCH Edit 1.04 and the Decrypted GC code database.  How do I get the codes I see in QCH edit into a txt file that can be read by the WiiRD app in GeckoOS?  Does it have to be converted to a gct like ocarina?  The games I want to get codes for include the following (All USA):

007: NightFire
Enter the Matrix
FIFA Soccer 06
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Super Monkey Ball 2
The Simpsons: Hit and Run
Ths Sims: Bustin' Out
The Sims 2: Pets
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Could someone please make a tutorial on how to get the codes (from the QCT) into a WiiRD text file?  Also, sometimes I'll put a code into the AR-WiiRD converter and it will output the exact same code, is this normal?  Can GeckoOS just use normal AR Codes without any conversion or is this not possible?  Also, do you have to use reboot or anything special with GC games, or just boot them like you would a wii game?  Do I need the Master (M) Code?

I think I might've gotten the hang of it.  I've finished the 007 Cheats and I've added the game ID/titles in for the other ones.  Here (http://cid-1506f6a77f83feed.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/GCRD.zip) is a zip file with the WiiRD txt files I've compiled.  However, could someone still please answer my questions above.  I mostly used Ocarina but I want to know it GeckoOS can use txt files.  I exported my 007 to a gct and am about to test it with GeckoOS.  I'll post my results shortly.

Results: It can boot the GC Game but the game doesn't have the codes enabled.  I made sure to have the correct ID (GO7E)  I took the codes from the QCT and converted them with the AR to WiiRD Converter.  I then put that code into Ocarina with the game title and ID.  Then I exported it to GCT, put it in the codes dir of my SD, and booted the game with GeckoOS with Ocarina on.  Do I have to have the M code or something?

Just wondering, but are you trying to use GameCube cheats on GeckoOS/Ocarina?  If so, I don't believe that GameCube cheat support has been added yet.  At this time, I believe that you need a USB Gecko and a method to boot GameCube homebrew.

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc
Post by: Link on September 26, 2008, 06:32:45 AM
There is no support to use Gecko OS standard for Wii codes yet - Gecko OS is able to switch into Gamecube mode however it can't apply any codes. If you want to use cheat codes in GC mode, you'll need a USB Gecko and use a method to run Gamecube homebrew (e.g. SD Load, modchip, SD Media Launcher).

That sucks.  I thought that they added an AR engine to Ocarina to work with GC games.  I guess I was wrong.  Oh well. Also, why is there a AR to WiiRD converter if WiiRD codes can't work with GC Games?

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc
Post by: Link on September 26, 2008, 11:26:45 PM
Because WiiRd can use codes if a GC game was started using a method to run Gamecube homebrew. If you have no way to run Gamecube homebrew on your Wii/Gamecube or you do not have a USB Gecko.. then it's of no use. Gecko OS is incompatible with GC cheating!

And the hope is that we'll eventually be able to use GCN codes on Wii with WiiRD. :)

I already tried the MIOS hack mentioned on http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Gamecube_Homebrew_Launcher

While it boots my Action Replay DOL fine and Gecko OS 1.06 Gamecube.. unfortunately it renders the DVD drive useless.. otherwise there would already be a tutorial for USB Gecko owners with unmodded Wiis.. but until no.. sorry, guys :(

Hard ways to do it - all these ways require a USB Gecko so that you can cheat:
1.
-use SD Media Launcher - it should still work on 3.3 (at least it works on my gf's Wii)
-boot Gecko OS with it

2.
-use a new "Works on Wii" Action Replay - these also still work on my gf's Wii
-use its freeloader to boot an old AR
-use the SD Load code with it while having a bootable SD card in an SD Gecko or GC SD reader
-boot Gecko OS

3.
-get yourself old MIOS and BC WADs
-install them with Waninkoko's WAD Manager (installing MIOS and BC is safe - the worst thing happening could be that your Wii doesn't boot GC copies if an installation fails)
-insert an old Action Replay
-use SD Load
-boot Gecko OS

These three ways are verified by me.. all of them work.. though I admit they are "hardcore".

When i load geckoOS with a GC game it works fine, the WiiRD starts counting down(20s) but then the game starts at about 10s and the wiiRD doesnt dump the file and i cant use it with the game.
Whats wrong?

You probably hit a multi-hook game.. in that case a master code would be needed.. it should work if you open WiiRd while being in the Gecko OS - select in WiiRd not to immediately run the game (start paused).. and check codejunkies.com or related for a (m) code.. do you happen to be able to name the game?

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc

I tried Sonic Battle Adventures 2 and PSO 1+2.

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc
Post by: Igglyboo on September 29, 2008, 07:01:58 PM
When i start  WiiRD while GeckoOS has already loaded, the screen gets these big green lines and the game doesnt load, and i cant use the master code unless the game loads.

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc
Post by: Link on September 30, 2008, 12:23:19 PM
PSO 1+2 requires a complicated master code so it probably doesn't work because of that. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was succesfully tested by me, Gecko OS should be able to properly load it.. which way of starting homebrew do you use?

I am using the HBC, should i use the TP hack?

Excactly what happens, i turn on the wii and insert the GC disc, load the HBC and then EITHER load WiiRD first or GeckoOS first.
If I load geckoOS first the screen gets corrupted when i load WiiRD and green lines run down the screen.
If i load WiiRD first the game starts before WiiRD dumps and WiiRD gives me an Error.
Am i supposed to load the master code before I turn on gecko?
If so how do i load the code without dumping the game to WiiRD?

http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8716 (http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8716)

This is a link to an app call GCBooter V 1.0 that allows region free GC booting without installing a modified MIOS. The discription says it will start GC games from WII mode.

My question is will the Wii version of GeckoOS load GC codes? I thought it might be possible to use the rebooter then run this app to start the gamecube game with the codes implemented. I might be way off base with this idea but I thought it was worth a shot.

As of right now, the Wii version of GeckoOS/Ocarina does not have support for GameCube cheats.  However, I believe that this was planned for a future release.

I have the same problem, but I don't have an sd media launcher, and I never got the silly Action Replay way to work, so I have to use the gamecube homebrew launcher. When the launcher launches gecko OS for the cube, it complains about no disc, even when there is a disc in, and it just freezes and doesn't spin the disk if I put one in.

It loads normal gamecube disks fine, and even apps that use gamecube discs in gamecube mode work fine (such as sd boot and usb load). It is just Gecko OS won't spin up the disc in gamecube mode.

Right, so lemme just get to the bottom:

Is it possible to use Ocarina / Gecko OS to load cheat lists on GCN games on the Wii WITHOUTany SD-Booters, etc.?
I mean, the same way as you use cheats in Wii games. Just make the files and export them to the SD? Then you boot up HBC + Gecko OS and it auto-loads the cheat list?

If possible, what would be the apps required?

Sorry for the bump, but there's a new hacked release of the Wii GameCube Homebrew Launcher.  http://www.qj.net/Wii-GameCube-Homebrew-Launcher-0-2-1-SD-Gecko-support-more/pg/49/aid/125911

The following note piques my interest.
Quote
Remove the code that binds the disc into the drive

Any idea what that means?  Does this now allow homebrew to access the DVD drive?  Can someone try out GeckoOS with it?

still doesn't work.

Easiest way is use Wii Update File Extractor on Pokemon Battle Revolution, Big Brain Academy, or Metroid Prime 3.

Other games may have (RVL-)MIOS-v4, but i only listed the most popular ones.

Anyways just rip that off an old one and install with wad manager and you can load your GCN action replay which is almost just as good as GeckoOS (except no wiiRD support :( )

you need an sd gecko and an old action replay.

Probably a copy of mios-4

and a GC dol of geckoos on the sd gecko

You can indeed use the USB Gecko to cheat game cube games.. however it is not trivial (note: the following solutions only works for USB Gecko owners):

Solutions A to C require an SD Gecko

Solution A:
-get a very old MIOS which does not block the AR
-insert an Action replay
-use the SD Load code to boot an SD card in your SD Gecko
-run Gecko OS 1.06d Gamecube edition with it - WIiRd will be able to communicate, just do not use MEM2 addresses
-profit

Solution B:
-get the MIOS from the Super Mario Galaxy/Mario Kart Wii/Smash Bros Brawl disc
-use it to run a new Action Replay
-use its freeloader to run an old Action Replay
-use SD Load
-run Gecko OS 1.06d Gamecube edition with it - WIiRd will be able to communicate, just do not use MEM2 addresses
-profit

Solution C:
-get the MIOS from the Super Mario Galaxy/Mario Kart Wii/Smash Bros Brawl disc or any older MIOS
-use it to run the Datel SD Media Launcher
-run Gecko OS 1.06d Gamecube edition with it - WIiRd will be able to communicate, just do not use MEM2 addresses
-profit

Solution D:
-hardware mod your Wii
-burn a Gecko OS boot disc
-insert it and use it with WiiRd
-profit

in that case you can still use solutions A to C... I can only resay: hooking channels and BC (for GC games) is quite complicated.. kenobi, brkirch and Nuke were looking into it very much.. downgrade your MIOS and use the action replay first..

Are there any significant differences between the code handlers in Wii GeckoOS and GameCube GeckoOS, besides of course the lack of Ocarina support?  Or do they behave the same?  The version number discrepancies are what make me wonder if there's a difference.

Thanks.

Gamecube Gecko OS is based on Wii Gecko OS 1.06d - with the identical code handler!
So everything should work the same way mostly!

All I can remember is that the old handler had a minor error in the Gecko registers if I recall correctly. But that should be all!

I know this type of topic has been made many a time, but i am unable to clearly figuire out exactly what you need to run AR.

Is USB Gecko 100% nessecary?
Can I use GC cheats with this equipment - Modded 3.2U Wii, SD Gecko, GC AR v1.06?

Since your Wii is modified with a drive chip, you could use a disc image of the GameCube Operating System (GCOS) to boot the Action Replay.  Also, you could try these instructions, but you will need to sign up to see them...

the thing is, i don't wanna change my regular mios, so i need to rephrase my question
how do i get the wad file?

I dont particularly wanna look for it on google, because it could be corrupted or tampered-with or something, so is there, either a reliable MIOSv4 wad, or a way to extract it (perhaps the "WUFE" program mentioned in the tut) and inject it into a wad?

Also, just to confirm, I can't use AR with a multi-game disc rite? (GCOS+multiple games on the disc)

Post by: hawkeye2777 on December 23, 2008, 09:59:24 PM
If you have any of the games mentioned in the tut, you can just delete your current MIOS and run one of those games through the disc channel. Then, the game will install MIOSv4 onto your Wii when running the disc updates.

I have tried the reset hardware option in the menu, but it doesn't change anything
any ideas?

You have to Use the AR Codes posted on Datels website or AR Central,Kodewerx etc or codes that have been created by well known hackers, many I think of which hack the Wii and post codes on this site also. I did notice that you will get this message if you try to string together a couple of different codes...that doesnt work with AR..so if you have a code for Inf Health you cant Combine it with a code for Max Hearts and put them both together...AR wont accept it...each set of codes has to have its label and be entered just like the way they are posted on these websites...BTW...codes from this site wont work unless they are encrypted to an AR format..

I got a newer version of AR (1.14) and it seems to have fixed itself.
So far i have gotten the Use phazon beam anywhere code to work for Metroid Prime.

I couldn't even get past the (m) code for Metroid prime 2.

I guess the AR disc was just messed up or something.
I'll post if other codes work once i test em out

Goddamn it, its still messing up
I am trying the (m) code for Metroid Prime 2, straight off of the Codejunkies website.

Any ideas?

Also, would there be a way i could put the codes on my SD Gecko from my computer, so that i don't have to type them in? it may just be a buggy AR that wont let me save correct codes. I have checked and rechecked like 50 times, and im typing it in properly. Is there a specific format i need the cheats in, etc.

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc
Post by: Niteblood on December 25, 2008, 02:58:58 AM
I am using the memory card that came with the 1.06 AR, but i am using a downloaded/burned 1.14 AR

The code didnt work on the 1.06 either, but then again, neither did any codes i tried.

I was able to make the Super hookshot code for Windwaker work as well, but i really want to get the MP2 codes working.
If someone could rip me an iso of a more up-to-date AR, so that i could update my hardware w/ the codes, that would make my life a lot easier. The iso's only like 3 or so mb if it's cleaned/zipped

1.14 is the most up-to-date AR.

Try using one of the Official Nintendo memory cards; the memory cards that come with the AR usually are crap.

I only have one GC mem card, does it need to be a clean card?

Also, 1.14 cant be the most up-to-date, because apparently the most up to date one has no code adding function, wheras mine can add codes. Also, on the site it says around 700 games are supported, but 1.14 only has like 170 on it

Sorry, i went skiing for 2 days, and i didnt have time to test it until now. Nope still doesnt work, even with a non-AR card. Mine's not an official nintendo one, kuz i never owned a GC, but it's a joytech 16 mb card.

There's no way to transfer saves to a gc mem card is there? because if there is, couldn't i just make a save with all the codes i need, and use that? that would bypass the whole saving problem.

Well, I wonder if NuGaSa (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/NuGaSa) will work for you... have you tried it before?

If it does work, you could write my GCI save (of my AR data) to your memory card.

havent tried it, but i've downloaded it onto my card. I'll test if it works now

EDIT:
I'm getting an Exception(DSI) +a bunch of lines of numbers/letters message when im trying to back up, I don't know about restoring yet

EDIT 2:
I'm able to back up saves now, but when restoring them, i get an offset + number(diff for every game) and then it tells me theres an error restoring

EDIT 3:
It seems every time i restart the program, it gains more functionality xD restoring works now. Please send me your gci save of your AR data. (be sure to include Metroid Prime 2, kuz that's the reason im going through all of this trouble xD moon jump+equipment codes, specifically)

I've got a 3.2u modded (w/ wiikey) wii, and i am trying to run a backup copy of Metroid Prime 2 with AR. The problem is the fact that none of my backup copies work. When i attempt to run them normally, i simply get a black screen on my wii. However, I can run Metroid prime 2 if i use GCOS. My wii runs the original cd properly without GCOS. I am using MIOS v4. Anyone have any ideas on how to make my AR work through GCOS?

Um, don't most Wii drivechips allow GameCube backups to run?  If you can't run GameCube backups, your drivechip might be faulty.  AR would probably have to be patched to run backups the way GCOS does, but you could try GCARS-CS 0.9.5.  It lets you use decrypted AR cheats with backups (although the drivecode is kind of outdated).  I still think the problem is your drivechip, though.

This sounds like the region code isn't properly set and your WiiKey switches to PAL or so. GCOS uses another detetion and will probably properly use NTSC!

region is set properly, my wiikey isn't faulty, because it runs plenty of other gamecube backups without any issues. The AR itself is a backup disc which works fine. I have AR 1.14.

Check your Prime 2 to see if is a PAL or NTSC verison, since nintendo blocked freeloader after 3.2u or 3.3u?, PAL games won't work with AR on a Wii (u).

Wondering if some1 could help clear some things out for me.

I have a wii 3.2 with wiikey (latest update)
I have homebrew channel and gecko OS
I have Gecko SD

I want to know how i can load gamecube cheats for my game. I have read the tutorials but they seem to be specific to the USB Gecko.
If some1 could clarify if it is possible to load gamecube cheats the SD Gecko.

At this time, I don't think that it is possible without an Action Replay and/or USB Gecko.  I could be wrong, though.

The easy way is to get an action replay, like me  ;). Here's a tutorial maded by hawkeye2777 of how to do it without the need of an usb gecko:  http://board.gscentral.org/showthread.php?t=27503  it works because i've tested it .

Check your Prime 2 to see if is a PAL or NTSC verison, since nintendo blocked freeloader after 3.2u or 3.3u?, PAL games won't work with AR on a Wii (u).

You're wrong. My PAL Wii reads my action replay (1.14b) running gecko'os wich i can cheat in SSBM pal version. Doesn't matter in wich region is your game since AR supports NTSC-japan, NTSC and PAL code versions.

Would it make a difference if the AR is a PAL AR? because i think it might be. The thing is, the NTSC MP2 copy doesn't work w/ or w/o the AR

MP2 (U) works fine on my Wii 3.3u w/ or w/o AR. Only PAL games refuse to work with AR on mine.
How certain are you that your MP2 is a NTSC (U) version?

Maybe the rip is not ripped properly... and if you've already have the latest wiikey update 1.9s and AR 1.14b still doesn't work with the original MP2 disc, then I have no idea.

http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/1898/mp2mt5.png (http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/1898/mp2mt5.png)

This has happened on multiple rips that i have done. I ripped once with the wiikey's native dumping process on the config disc, and i ripped once with the cIOS dvd dumper by waninkoko

I do have the latest wiikey update, but for the v1 wiikey, not the v2

Someone has managed to get this all working. this is an app that will launch The GCN AR dol and then force load the Gamecube game with the codes in place. It will give you complete access to the uses and functions of the Gamecube Action replay.

Things you will need.

1. The Homebrew Channel installed on your wii.
2. An SD card for use with the wii homebrew channel.
3. At least one 3rd Party Gamecube Memory card. Two is best. :)
4. A way to copy the action replay save data to you Gamecube memory card in slot B (a homebrew app for the wii to do this is included however it wouldn't work for me.......) You may be able to just use the actual Action Replay card instead. I couldn't try that.... I don't have one.
5. A Gamecube controller. (Duh)
6. A gamecube Game.
7. The download linked to at this location.
Link removed - contains MIOS

When you have all these things just do the following

First take the Rvl-mios-v5.wad.out.wad file and the ar114.dol and apps folder and place them in your front sd card root dir. If an apps directory already exists on your sd card then copy only the subfolders into the apps directory. Now from the Homebrew channel run the program Mios patch. This will patch your Mios to enable the loader and the homebrew loader for the gamecube as well. Just follow the onscreen instructions. (shouldn't cause any problems for any of your wii's GC Compatability)

Insert original Gamecube game then run the Action Replay Loader from the Homebrew Channel. It will load into Action Replay v1.14. You can now use cheats with your ORIGINAL Gamecube dvds. (Do not try to change which game you are using after you start the AR. I have yet to try it with a multi disk game so I can't say if it works or not.......)

I'll be uploading a Wad File at a later time that will install a channel directly to your system menu to load this. :)

This does work but often has compatability issues with certain memory Cards (official Nintendo brands do NOT work). If yours do not work I don't know what to tell ya........ Best of luck to everyone with this. I'm uploading a channel for it as I type. You will still have to have the other items on the SD card. this is just the loader that will launch the dol file for the AR.

Here is the Channel

So there ya'll go.

Let me get this straight, you're linking to a pirated MIOS and a pirated AR dol file?  You're stealing from both Nintendo and Datel?  For hell's sake, just buy SD Media Launcher and use GCARS-CS or GeckoOS.  That way you won't be breaking the law.

1. What firmware is your Wii? (ex: 3.3, 3.2, etc.)
2. What is your region?

the homebrew channel needs the files to be in this structure:

SD:\apps\(nameofapp)\boot.dol
                               \meta.xml
                               \icon.png

the wad files needs to be in the SD:\wad folder

then just copy the meta.xml and icon.png from another app place them in your WAD manager folder and edit meta.xml with notepad and edit icon.png with paint.

just put it in a folder and look for the directory. the meta.xml and the icon.png aren't actually needed, it just makes things nice. it will just show up in the end of all the other apps without a meta.xml and it will show up as "\apps\(nameofapp)\boot.dol"

Sorry for beign slow on answering.. I assume you're European.. Many Action Replays have a US region code. When you insert them on a Gamecube the region free unit in them immediately activates and thus you can use them despite having the US region on a EU Gamecube. The Wii doesn't fall to the AR trick.. so the Wii unfortunately detects: US region, I am EU Wii - so "cannot read disc". Starfall on 3.2E would be your friend there!

TOPIC = Using USB Gecko to Make/Use Codes for Gamecube

Is it possible? I'm confused, but just got my Gecko.
I have a:
UNmodded Wii,
SD Card,
Gamecube,
USB Gecko,
GC Memory Cards

Is there any way to use it with GC Games with this?

You'll need a way of booting Gamecube homebrew. Some of these ways include:

1.) SD Media Launcher (by Datel (http://codejunkies.com))
2.) Modchip
3.) Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II (NOT plus) along with a BBA and Cat5e Cable.
4.) Old Action Replay (GCN) + SD Gecko

Now, I recommend the SD Media Launcher. Options 3 and 4 are not only expensive to get; but can be a HUGE pain to find nowadays. I doubt you want to mod your Wii/Gamecube either.

The SDML (SD Media Launcher) will probably cost you around ~$30 USD (with shipping). It can be found on codejunkies (http://codejunkies.com). I assume you don't need a SD Card, so don't buy the bundle packages (they cost more). I got mine within a week of ordering it.

EDIT: SDML also works on Wiis with 3.2 and below firmwares. I'm unsure if it works on 3.3.

Can someone explain how to do method three?

You would use PSOload.

http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/PSOload (http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/PSOload)

Quote
PSOLoad is the longest standing software DOL loader. It works by tricking a game called Phantasy Star Online (PSO) into downloading code from the network. PSO tries to connect to a central server if you want to play an online game, and the network protocol provides the facility to download an updated version of the game executable. By providing a fake server on the local network this mechanism can be used to upload arbitary code to the GameCube.

This technique requires a copy of PSO (Episode "1&2" only, not 1&2plus, not 3), a broadband adapter and a PC running the tool "PSOLoad" connected the the GameCube via Ethernet.

Keep in mind that a Gamecube is required for PSOload.

I have both my Gamecube and PC connected up to the router. I run PSO, go into online mode, and get the PSOLoad running on my PC. However PSO gets a screen saying it failed to connect to anything, do I need to tinker with the PSO Network setup and tell it to connect to my computer's IP? Cause it's on that automatic stuff

*EDIT*

Okays, so I got it to work but whenever I hit start it freezes and gives me a red screen which says hit start to reset the system...

Well, I was trying to convert some codes to use with F-Zero GX, and I came across a few problems.

1: Should I still convert and have the Master Code on when using cheats via WiiRD?

2: When I convert alot of codes they get split, like for example

20000000 00000000
WiiRD does not support this codetype
line
line
line
WiiRD does not support this codetype
E0000000 80008000

Which parts am I supposed to copy? I tried just the parts inside the errors and it froze.
Or can you not use a code then? Because pretty much all of them gave this error...

not a clue... you could always find an ar code type doc then change it by hand...

First, I recognise this isn't about codes for a Gamecube game, but it doesn't really fit anywhere else either.

Before Nuke disappeared he had mentioned he might port the LOZ:TP savegame exploit to the 'Cube. He asked for a few savefiles to base it on, and I was able to send him some from PAL and NTSC/U games.

I recon it'd be great to have a savegame exploit for the 'Cube since then you don't have to purchase/make a legally questionable modchip, or a Datel product. The SSBM v1.2 exploit is only good for NTSC/U consoles (or J if you install a region switch) and requires you hunt down a specific version of the game. I realise few people would have a use for it any more, but is anyone, Nuke or otherwise, willing+able to make it happen?

I was hoping for this too, but unfortunately, I don't believe that it is being worked on anymore.

I'm just curious, but what is the SSBM 1.2 exploit?  I have searched on Google, and can't find anything on it.

A TP exploit is completely useless. You need a way to inject codes into the system. Thus a USB Gecko is required!

Post by: Nuke on April 27, 2009, 10:25:43 AM
The modified save game would be already loaded into memory, just like the Wii mode version. You have about 16k of space to place a loader, and you put this address on the back chain once to trap the exception. This 16k loader can chain load more data from the memory card then if needed, 16k is plenty enough space for a chain loader, its just some EXI memory card reads, i think maybe less than 1k could do it.

As you can do read memcard access, you can chain load quite a large binary, clear the cache and just jump from there, the binary can be a Gamecube compiled version Gecko OS of course.

Here are the downsides though.

1. It would need an SD Gecko / Wiikey adapter or homemade SD adapter for any orcarina activity / cheats, so would mean a user purchasing extra hardware.

2. The modified TP game save would need to be on the Memory card, so would need a Wii mode app to do this, or a Gamecube with a way to run homebrew.

3. You would need to fix the checksum of the edited saves, there are 2 checksums and is slightly modified from the Wii SD saved checksum. One block checksum is easy to find, but the other is harder, as the data is so random.

4. Alternative to 3, is to find all the addresses of Epona name in memory and fill the addresses until it crashes, i think all 4 or 8 of then need to be done, as if i remember the data seems to be mirrored. Then one more hurdle is patch the save routine so you can save more then the required data back. This then will put your data on the card with the checksum fixed. This method is more advanced.

5. Once you got a crash the rest is easy, but you need to output the exception data somehow so you can figure out the addresses and recover from it, putting the address of the loader on the return.

So as you can see it can be done, but its extremely time consuming. The only upside to this method is that it would work on Gamecube.

Btw even to do a Mios hack your going to need to chain load data off a memory card / SD gecko for cheats, as the internal SD is not available in Gamecube mode, and BC which loads Mios is like a software reset. Games would also not be running in a safe GC environment if you don't let Mios (the Gamecube bios) set up the BAT and devices correctly. DVD access would probably not work correctly, and games would easily crash.

Two alternives to run Gamecube cheats is: Get a modchip and compile Gecko OS 1.9 for Gamecube mode stripping out the Wii stuff and make a Gamecube ISO for all regions. Libfat will use SD Gecko / Wiikey adapter as the SD device for orcarina cheats if compiled for Gamecube. The other is to use Gamecube backup launcher which would load the Gamecube ISO also.

So as you can see, it can be done, but not just an overnight bit of code.

There is also a super smash bros melee exploit on the net which uses the same method as above (4.) but i can't find the link to that any more. If someone can find it please post as it would fit with the topic.

here i started modifying segher's TP tool to work with a raw GCI gamecube save of TP for Gamecube. The block checksum on Gamecube and Wii saves is almost identical.

http://www.pastie.org/private/otibhxpae7slbdyyhqd5g (http://www.pastie.org/private/otibhxpae7slbdyyhqd5g)

sorry for the long post, i just wanted to clear it up on how it works. funny enough 007 agent under fire, splinter cell also can be exploited on Gamecube, super smash bros melee and TP also can too. The string length function which seems to be used in games with name entry, hasn't been changed on Wii either which is why TP exploit for Wii was possible.

I am sure you get this question about 100 times a day, but i am wondering;
this is what i have;
Homebrew.
Wii has been soft modded to play 'back-uped' gamecube CDs
Gecko OS (forgot what version..) I got it recently (yesterday) from the Homebrew Downloader. so i think its the most recent.
and i think 3.3  (on the system version (wii ) )

I have a back-uped gamecube AR,  and no, i dont want to use WII codes, i can do those with Gecko.
I want to be able to use gamecube cheats, but when i put my AR into the Wii,  it loads fine, but after i put in my codes it goes 'take this cd out and put the game in'  or something.
My issue is, the Wii wont load any CD after i eject the AR D:
Sooo...is there any way i can get it to work?
I dont have USB gecko, if i did, i would be using codes by other means.

I just want to be able to use super ness on melee, or super hookshot on wind waker DX
I was hoping with the new release of Gecko i would be able to just use codes like i would for the Wii..
damn.

Anyway, any way to do it? :\

EDIT:  also, i can downgrade my wii version if necessary, but i would rather not..

Google "AR 1.08 dol", it allows for cheating on Gamecube games on wii. It also should come with a special thing that you need to get the AR to work. It does not require a disc, so you just load a disc before starting up action replay, and it loads it with the codes. Do not take out the gamecube game when AR has been loaded on the wii, or else you wont be able to load up the game. The problem wouldn't be permanent, but you would have to turn off your wii and select the codes again.

Hope this helps! :)

i think i love you.

xD i have been waiting for about 3-4 months for a way to get codes.

Ill keep you posted if it doesnt work.

edit:
cant find it -_-;  im googleing AR-1.08.dol downloads,  homebrew, wii,   tags like that.

also once i get the dol how am i supposed to run it? o.o;  is there a .dol running program i dont know of?

EDIT AGAIN!~:
I think i got how to run them, make a new folder in the apps folder on the SD, name the dol BOOT.dol, then run it from the wii?
If thats so, i got the error: "This is not a valid wii application"

you need to convert the boot.elf to boot.dol (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/ELF_to_DOL_Converter)

Title: Re: Collective Topic for 'How to Use Gamecube AR on Wii' / GeckoOS Mod / Wiird etc

you need to convert the boot.elf to boot.dol (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/ELF_to_DOL_Converter)

the one i downloaded is already a .dol o.o;
il try comverting it, just in case the idiot who uploaded it only changed the extention.
but i dont think itll work.

EDIT; it says "file not regonized" so i assume its already a good .dol file.
i think more or less i have a bad .dol file as it is.
can someone send me the right AR 1.08 file? Or is that somehow illegal?

EDIT AGAIN:
Maybe the .dol file i have is meant for homebrew on the gc? not the wii?
if that is the case, is there any way to make my wii run gc homebrew apps? or is it the same thing?

okay, found out how to get it to work.

and for the guy above me;
i wont tell you how it works until i know 100% i can make it work this wey.
when it completely works il step you though how to get it to work.

anyway,  i can load AR by the dol now, using gamecube homebrew launcher or something like that.
but the same thing still happens as before.
i put in my codes,  it goes "open the lid"....and if i take out the cd, my wii wont load any cd's after it.

and if i try to leave the CD out UNTIL it asks for a cd, then the ar dol simply wont load for some reason.

il do some more testing myself,  but i would REALLY apreciate it if people where acturally helping, and i wasnt just writing here in sake of a journal >_>

Actually I was able to find a method that worked quite nicely on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOQTGQHGVXc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOQTGQHGVXc)

The only thing the guy left out was that you also need to put the ar114.dol file on the root of your SD card as well.

One problem that I had though (and this could be do to the old age of my gamecube memory cards): I had to add my own codes for paper mario the thousand year door manually (which took a bit of time since the keyboad doesn't work with the action replay). After putting in all the codes I ran the game once to test, and then reset only to find my memory card was unreadable, the file became currupt after somehow. Basically I had to re-format my memory card (the gamecube one) losing not only the AR codes I had just spent about an hour entering but what ever saved games that had been stored on it as well. I then had to put the codes in all over again. This time I made sure to make a back up of the AR save file! So my advice to others is to do just that, back up your saves! :) This method DID work for me though.

Remember that when or if you do try this, you will need to have a gamecube memory card in slot B (not A) to store your saved codes. I used a standard nintendo gamecube memory card and that worked fine for me (other than the one time glitch I mentioned above). Good luck!

You can't cheat on GC games using Ocarina.

To be able to cheat on GC Games, you need to get:

a USB Gecko
a SD Gecko
form of loading SD Gecko. (Popular ways are: Old Action Replay (Version 1.14B at max) with an SD Boot code, NEW Action Replay ("Works with Wii", version 1.14C and above) Just plug in the SD Gecko (in slot A) with GC Gecko OS on the SD Card in it. Load the AR, it will detect the SD Gecko as a Datel SD loading product, and give you a nice menu from which you can load GC Gecko OS. WiiRD must be on at this point)

1. I mean the SD Gecko itself
2. You only need to buy the old action replay. The SD Boot code is free. However, if you are buying an Action replay only
for this person I'd probablly suggest the newer one, as it is easier with it. (But the old Action Replay is better if you also want to cheat on GC games with it)
3. WiiRD is a free program you may download at this site: http://wiird.l0nk.org/wp/wiird (http://wiird.l0nk.org/wp/wiird)

Remember that for you the new Action Replay might be easier to use. :D

edit

i updated my wii to 4.0U and the ar loader works with it. so i don't know why it doesn't work with like 3.3 or any other ones i read that it will work with 3.4 if you use some kind of fixer and it will work on 3.4.

You can't use USB Gecko on Backup GC games as far as I know, because WiiRD requires the game to boot through Gecko OS.
Gecko OS doesn't support backups, so you can't do it through softmods.

Unless you find a GCOS with WiiRD Support or something, but I'm pretty sure there are none...

I really wouldn't be sure about solderless solutions on Gamecubes.. they exist for Wii.. and well.. on a Wii if you use one you can essentially boot Gecko OS discs on Wiis (all modchips allow Gamecube backups).

Hey there,

I just want to know if it is possible to hook gc games with gecko to take screenshots with Wiird. I dont have a sd gecko and my Wii is not hardware modded. If it's not possible, so is there any chance for a new gecko that contains support for gamecube mode? My main intention is taking screenshots of gc games. Thanx in advance.

There are software mod ways nowadays bhut they are hard.. one way which is supposed to work is:
-burn a Gecko OS disc
-use gamecube backup launcher to launch it
-use that Gecko OS disc to launch an original disc
-WiiRd will happily connect and take screenshots

Man, I did all that..I have many versions already burned into DVD-Rs.

I've tried Action Replay, but after activating the codes and put the game, only I see is a black screen.

I'll be thankful for any ideas :)

Only what I have are backups from my friend's original copies.

I dunno what they said about Gecko OS and GC games, but l used this video tutorial to get a virtual Action Replay to work on the Wii. It uses a custom MIOS, which is what the Gecko OS peoples were talking about once.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQB1NfpG-VI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQB1NfpG-VI)

It practically is the actual AR Max without a need of a disc, but that also means it doesn't work with the games AR Max didn't work with before(Metal Gear, Star Fox Adventures, Wave Race...).

As far as I know, the AR isn't supposed to work with Game-BackUps, so you only got 2 Options:
1st: Put in your Original GC-Gamedisc, you got as a Present/Buyed yourself
2nd: Forget about Cheats with (illegally) downloaded Gamecube-Games.

For me, I've also got The AR to work, thanks to the MIOS, and it works with my purchased Discs perfectly.
Well, using the GC-ActionReplay, I'm having, requires the GC-Disc to be inserted before launching the AR-Launcher.

When it works, you should always have the (m)-Code active (that's the  "must-be-on-Code", most Gamecube Games need to work).

I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this, or if the information is elsewhere, but I simply can't find it.

What is required to use Gamecube cheats with Gecko OS? Does it require a USB Gecko, or is the Gecko OS itself enough? How are Gamecube cheats used and created? Are they related to Action Replay codes? Can they be converted from them? And, if the answers to any of these questions are "no", could someone please provide a basic explanation as to why not?

Any answers along these lines would be much appreciated.

gamecube cheats in gecko os requires usbgecko unfortunately, but this doesn't mean you can't cheat with gamecube cheats on the wii. Simply look up "Action Replay 1.08 Loader" on google and look for the result that has "eurasia" in the link. This will be homebrew that will allow you to load gamecube games with cheats, as long as u have a gamecube memory card (that has enough leftover memory) in slot b. You do not need an action replay memory card at all. Unfortunately, the homebrew requires modification to the MIOS, which I think is some type of security for gamecube games on the wii system. Doing this is simple, just google or search on youtube "MIOS Patching Wad Installer" and search for instructions and tutorials on doing this. Modifying or replacing the MIOS might require you to downgrade to 3.2, so this WONT work on newer wiis unless there is a new MIOS patch. Also, the MIOS patch will disable video for gamecube games if u play them normally (as in using the disc channel to load them), so the only way to play gamecube games without cheats after installing the mios patch would be to load gamecube games using the action replay loader. So, what wii firmware do you have? (The number for the firmware shows up in the upper right corner in the wii settings). Also, do u have a newer wii that came with 4.2 firmware?

backups aren't going to work with action replay cheats. To get Action Replay to work, u need to patch the "MIOS" (a security thing the wii has for gamecube games that disables AR?) using "MIOS Patching Wad Installer". I cant and wont give u a link. "Google is your friend" and Youtube is useful for this too. Also, Im not sure if it will work with 4.2, unless security updates including ones that affect the MIOS and modifying the MIOS aren't installed in the 4.2 firmware u have.

I was looking for codes for the game, but I don't know the game ID.

I was mainly looking for item codes; especially the code for the winch gate "handle" I somehow lost it, and now I can't get any further in the game...

Also do gamecube codes work with Gecko? Or would I need to download something different?

You need a USB Gecko to use Wiird codes on Gamecube games. If you have one, here's the scoop:

To use Gamecube Gecko OS codes, you will need Gecko OS Gamecube Edition.

There are several ways to do this ; for more info, visit THIS THREAD (http://wiird.l0nk.org/forum/index.php/topic,1946.0.html)

If you need the Gecko OS ISO, here is a rar package (uploaded by mdmwii) which contains all three regions of Gecko OS GC ISO's.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OPMUV2ZL
Burn them with ImgBurn and load using GCBackup launcher. Wiird will now be able to upload GCT codes.

I'm assuming that you mean codes created using WiiRD.

Yes, you can easily convert them using GCNcrypt. At least, the ones that I tried to convert worked.

To play GC games with codes on a Wii, you need a USB Gecko, and a way to load the Gecko OS burned disc. (GeckoOS GC iso)
But yeah, you're going to need the USB Gecko to do this stuff.

When you download that, you will have all 3 Gecko OS GC versions (US, PAL, and JAP) burn the respective one.

Dont forget, you NEED a USB Gecko.

Burn with IMGBurn using DVD-R, and load in wii using GC Backup Launcher. (Google)
*Dont use for illegal stuff :D*

This is awesome and I must have, I can load GC backups and burn the Gecko OS GC disc no problem.

Now I need a USB Gecko but the problem is, I don't know where to get one.

Any one know? eBay and Amazon don't seem to have any and google didn't do much for me.

Also can you tell me why I need a USB Gecko (What does it do) and do I have to add anything to it once I get it (like the codes for example)?

Don't buy a USB Gecko if you just want GameCube cheating.  WiiPower has an app under development which will enable Ocarina cheats for GameCube games; no USB Gecko is needed.  There's actually already a version floating around the Net with this functionality, but because that version supports booting backups, I'm not sure if I should link to it here.  The non-backup version will be released on this forum when it's ready.

So I want to know what I would need to do use WIIRD cheats/hacks on my gamecube games on my Wii.
I have: a 4.2U softmodded Wii
Homebrew Channel
Gecko OS(pretty sure its the newest one)
the actual gamecube AR memory card
Original Gamecube games
SD cards
USB Storage devices
other non-important stuff, etc

I do not have a USB Gecko

So yeah, thats what I have, I just wanna use codes for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for Chao stuff and really don't wanna spend $30 on a new AR just for the disc. So halp plx?

Oh, one other quick question, nobody has to answer it but it would be appreciated. Can you use Gecko OS/Wiird codes on back-up Wii games?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I also have a non-modded Gamecube.

GeckoOS Mod will allow using codes on GameCube games without a USB Gecko.  (And WiiRd codes can be used on backup games, but that isn't officially supported by this forum and is best discussed elsewhere.)

After some frustration, determination and a little bit of experimenting,I have figured out that I can get a hook for gamecube games from Action Replays (M) code. But I dont know what to do when I get a code like the following,it looks like multiple hooks...

C4348274 0000FF01
C432E1D0 0000FF02
0D3031F8 80010014
C53031F8 0001FF03

Normally I would drop the C4 part and replace with 80 and pull it up in dissasembly view and right click and hook...and Voila....game is hooked and I can start hacking...

Ok, I have a WODE Jukebox so that takes care of my "disk", and I have this (http://'http://vggtsworld.ta-host.com/where/wiird/gamecube_codes_with_geckoos.htm') mod of Gecko OS. It SAYS applying codes when I launch a game, (only tried Super Mario Sunshine so far) but it either does nothing or hangs for 5 minutes on the intro then gives me a disk read error. Is it possible to load ANY codes this way or any other way without needing to buy a USB Gecko?

You're using GeckoOS Mod, correct?  As opposed to the official Gecko?  Only GeckoOS Mod can do GameCube games.

Also, you're using Internal mode, not MIOS or External, correct?

Well, you're unfortunately doing it wrong (we hope that it'll be possible some day in the future).

The main problem is: Gecko OS comes in 2 versions: one Gamecube version and one Wii version. The Wii version can handle SD cheats or USB Gecko cheats for Wii games, the Gamecube version can only apply USB Gecko cheats.

The Wii version can launch Gamecube games, that's about it. It cannot apply cheats to them.
Hopefully some version in the future is able to handle that but no promises can be made.

If you find codes that aren't on GeckoCodes.org, you can manually add them to accio hacks. (the next version this should be built in and easier to do)

http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Accio_Hacks#Adding_codes_from_outside_the_app

(if you're on a windows computer, use wordpad instead of notepad for editing the txt file)

If there's a reason you specifically don't want to use Accio Hacks, please let me know so I can improve it.
Thanks

You can add them from the computer. There is no way to add codes from inside the app yet.

And yes, I made Accio Hacks (and GeckoCodes)

I can't get Gecko OS Mod to work with SSBM v1! I have been converting AR codes to WiiRD with GCNcrypt and AR to WiiRD Code Converter, but they just don't work! I am looking to get to the debug menu. Also, now SSBM won't even start with a code on from Gecko OS Mod! Anyone have any ideas?

For what it's worth, I was able to get to the debug menu with SSBM USA 1.0 and the latest Neogamma (meaning it should work fine with GeckoOS Mod).  I just took the AR codes from GSCentral, decrypted and converted to WiiRD code types, and had no issues.  I used the Unknown1 hook (which is a PadRead-based hook); you might want to try that hook if you were using something different.  You should be warned that some of the SSBM debug codes write to memory that Ocarina uses for its code list.  I think you have roughly half of the code list available; anything past that and the game will crash.

If you really need help, I can look up the codes I converted.  Let me know if you can't make it work based on what I said here.

EDIT: Just to confirm, you did get some other games working with GeckoOS Mod, right?  If not, make sure that a game with existing tested codes works.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, so if it's the wrong place, I'd appreciate it if a mod would move it.

I've searched for this (in both Google and the forums), but I couldn't find it.  Does anyone know of a download link for it?

Thanks.  This will be helpful.

Edit:  Oops, what I meant was as a DOL (homebrew, etc.) file, not as an ISO.  I was hoping to load a game through a Gamecube exploit since I heard that you can get better compatibility that way.

This is what I'm talking about:

Solution A (requires SD Gecko or any other SD card adapter):
-use an Action Replay
-use the SD Load code to boot your SD card (see http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/SDload )
-run Gecko OS 1.06d Gamecube edition with it - WIiRd will be able to communicate, just do not use MEM2 addresses
-profit

I'm sure the following question, to some of you, may be a quote-on-quote "Noob" question. I'm asking it anyway.

I'm new to the WiiRd forums, and came across some Gecko OS Gamecube Mod topics. This got me thinking: "Is there any working method, that allows you to launch, and apply codes, to a Gamecube Game through the Wii's Gecko OS Application?"

Hm. Applying codes to a Gamecube game, the same way you would a Wii game. Is it possible? Has it been done? If it has, it would be fantastic if someone could explain the method. Thanks!

I realize this reply is late:
Do you have it set to External? External is the only option that requires the GC.dol file, I believe. Internal just applies Ocarina codes from your SD Card.

Not sure what else to say, if that doesn't help. I'm running NTSC SAB2 through GeckoOSmod. On my end, it tells me that the codes have been found, and applied, but in-game, they aren't. It might just be the SAB2 Codes in general.

I've recently setup GeckoOS Mod, and have been attempting to apply Ocarina codes to SAB2 (NTSC). Upon launching the game, through GeckoOS Mod, it tells me, "SD Codes applied". However, the codes are not active in-game.
None of the codes I have seem to work in-game. All codes were found here: http://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?c=GSNE8P

I'm pretty sure I've got everything else setup correctly; No Hook Type (Yes, I've tried all hook types. None have worked.), recommended MIOS, Running with the 'internal' option, etc. Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone else SOLVED this problem?

Gamecube Mode: Internal
Force video: Disc
Patch Video: No
GC Hook Type: None
GC Ocarina: Yes
GC Debugger: No

**EDIT: Now, I've run the codes through the converter, to be sure.  Still, nothin'. Didn't change a thing, really.

As Stoshu1234 said, you should have it on Internal mode.  External is not what you want if you're just trying to use Ocarina codes.

Your setting of No Hook Type is definitely wrong; a hook is needed to get the code handler to execute during the game.  For Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (USA version), I had luck with the VI and Unknown1 hooks.  No idea why your codes aren't having an effect; maybe they're bad codes?  It's also possible (though unlikely) that this is a bug specific to GeckoOS Mod and doesn't affect Neogamma (which is what I'm using)... if you're able to try with Neogamma, let us know whether your results are any different.  (I can't link to Neogamma here due to the fact that it supports backup loading.)

Hope this helps.

Anywho, I have tried em' all, and I think you might have been right in saying, They're bad codes. Even through Neogamma, the codes aren't applied. I've also tried different versions of GeckoOSMod. Still nothin'.  I'll continue to look around in an attempt to find a new solution.

Thanks again!

If you want a code that I've tested to work, try the SA2B code that comes with GeckoTunnel (see the USB Gecko dev subforum).  If it loads the code correctly, the Wii should crash right after it says Launching Game (because it's waiting for USB Gecko commands).  If the codes aren't being applied, the game will boot normally.  That should help figure out whether codes are being applied properly.

Good luck!

First, reading this could be helpful.

*DISCLAIMER*
+If you by some chance brick your Wii during the installation process, you are the one at risk. No one at WiiRd Community shall be held responsible.
Although the chances are low, there's always the possibility.
You have been warned. Continue with caution!
+I, Goemon_guy am not the author of this application. I only wrote this guide. (And posted a... *small* compatibility list.)

This is a tutorial on how to make Gecko OS Mod work on your Wii.
You're going to need to download the packages to get it to work. The packages that you want to download are the ones that contain the Application for the HBC, and then the cMIOS installer. The Application runs off of a special cMIOS to load Gamecube games, so you're going to have to install it if you want to be able to load Gamecube games with cheats or even WiiRd.

So, once you have downloaded them, put them into the applications folder on the root of your SD Card. The folder that the HBC gets all of your apps from.
The folder layout should look like this.

SD:/apps/Gecko OS Mod/boot.dol
SD:/apps/Gecko OS Mod/meta.xml
SD:/apps/Gecko OS Mod/icon.png

What you will have to do next is install the cMIOS. Use the cMIOS installer included, and make sure to patch it for homebrew.
I would download the MIOS v4 straight from the NUS servers. To do so, you will have to hit right or left until you get to Download from NUS. In order to do this, you need a valid internet connection to your Wii.

Of course, you could easily also get the MIOS by using the NUS downloader to download it from the servers from your PC, or some other method. The wad that you obtain from 'this method' will have to be in on the root of the SD card.

Now then, install the cMIOS, and make sure you have the Patch for homebrew set to "yes" so that it will be compatible with Gecko OS Mod.

Return to the Homebrew Channel.

Now you're going to have to go and download something called the Trucha Bug Restorer. This is to restore the Trucha Bug to the IOS36. When you go to download it, get the most recent version. As of August 12th 2011, the latest version is 1.14. (DOWNLOAD)

With this Wii application, you can restore the Trucha Bug to IOS36.
Make sure all patches are applied when you are installing it. (There are four [4] in total!)

When it asks you where you want to install it, make it install it to IOS236. With it in that slot, you will be able to use the rebooter with the Gecko OS Mod.
(To verify whether this was done correctly or not, load Gecko OS Mod, it should say that IOS236 is loaded.)

OK, so now that that is over with, you can now load the Gecko OS Mod, and use the Gamecube cheats with it. With that said, go into the Gecko OS Mod from the Homebrew Channel or some method to load Homebrew.
You can go into options, and go to Ocarina/WiiRd settings, and enable Debugger and Cheats for both Wii and GC. Then, for the GC hook, set it to VI. That is the only hook that is even possible.

Now, you can use codes on your Gamecube games, and if you have a USB Gecko, you can use WiiRd on them!

Some games are simply incompatible at the moment. Some games will either not boot, not load codes properly, or even debug properly!
It is also worth noting that Gecko OS Mod is not capable, (and will most likely NEVER be capable,) of running backup games. (Burned, non-retail games.)
Support game developpers and buy their software!

I would recommend against using Trucha Bug Restorer.  Last I knew, it requires downgrades and stuff.  Use Simple IOS Patcher instead.  http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew/89927-simple-ios-patcher-v1-14-a.html

Does the Trucha Bug Restorer really need downgrading?
I remember it having to, but the last time I used it to prepare a second Wii for Gecko OS Mod, I didn't have to downgrade.
But the Simple IOS Patcher might be easier for others to patch their IOS36.

*Does the Simple IOS Patcher allow to install the patched IOS to IOS236?

I'm not sure if it installs it to 236 or not.  But IOS36 is pretty safe to patch anyway if all you need is fakesign and ES_Identify.

TBR doesn't need a downgrade if an IOS with fakesign already exists.  Perhaps this second Wii was already patched.

YES! The Wii was already slightly hacked, (had IOS15 downgraded.)! I remember, because I did it for my friend,  who game me the Wii.

That makes sense. I think that's something I should note in the Gecko OS Mod guide I wrote, then.

And, I was pretty sure that Gecko OS Mod needs IOS36 patched and installed to IOS236. (Maybe for another feature?)

Maybe for rebooter.  But for the purpose of cMIOS installer, all you need is an IOS with fakesign.

If I remember while I was trying to figure this out, I grabbed a IO236 installer/patcher from the WiiBrew wiki (or something like that). After fiddling around with that everything worked out.

Gecko OS Mod uses a pretty old code handler.  It cannot handle any codes which begin with F.  Instead it treats those codes as the end of the list, meaning any other codes after it won't be executed.

Neogamma uses a newer code handler which has support for the F codes.
