At work there were a bunch of guys talking about hacking their game systems and when they were on about Wii stuff I asked if they knew of GeckoCodes and they had!!! I told them I was the one who made that site and he seemed pretty enthusiastic to have met me but it had to have been more cool for me. ^_^ Very rewarding.
Man that was sweet.

Yeah, that would be cool.  I would probably enjoy meeting someone who has benefited from the effort I've put into Gecko.NET...a thanks in person is worth 1000x thanks on the forum.

But lately, I've been thinking carefully about this...and I really like to keep my online life as separate as possible from my real life.  After watching the Blizzard RealID thing go batshit, I am *scared* of the people on the Internet, man.

I don't want people being able to connect my nick to my real life body.  I don't even have facebook!

Plus, there's always the concern that being a prominent hacker in a video game console hacking scene could make the employment situation trickier.  In fact, just about ANY online presence makes employment trickier.

Hah, my online presence is /why/ I have my job! lol
But yeah, in most cases, I agree that what you said is the case.

...I didn't hear about any repercussions for the Blizzard RealID.. only predictions.. Anything specific stand out?

lol

Basically, when they announced that they might want to do this Real ID thing, one of the Blizzard employees was like "what's the big deal?  My name is blahblahblah".  And then the Internet came down upon him.

Then the crazies went ahead and starting digging up info on the CEO, his wife, other employees and their spouses, etc.

Internet people are psycho, man.  Totally psycho.
