Discs will not read.

This is not my first time that I have gotten disc read errors (I assume all prior errors were due to a dirty lense.) but this is by far the most odd. I was prototyping a code I have been working on (it is meant to map a weapon over another weapon.. namely to bring a gun im not "supposed" to have so i can use it over an existing gun. I know the code can be created, as my mentor has a working version of it. When testing the various versions of the code, one version "worked" in as much as the game didnt freeze as normal, but my weapon was still the same. I modded the data around and changed it to what I thought would get the code to work, then yet again, the game froze. Now when i turned the wii off and loaded everything back up, I went to>hombrew channel>geckoOS>Wiird>hook> then geckoOS told me the game could not be read (this has happened several times before.. usually all that is needed is to re-hook again) but it kept failing. so I checked the disc channel to see if it could at least read the disc. Well.. the disc would't read, so I swapped it for another disc to see if it would read.. I went through my immediate stack of 5 discs (2 Call of Duty's, medal of honor heroes 2 -the game the code was for-, super mario galaxy 2) but none would read. I checked for everything I could through google.. but the only things that seem close to what my error is, is: overheating and a damaged lense (both I find unlikely..).

Mostly I would like to know, if I updated my wii would it fix the error? or is there another method? my wii is in no case "new" I purchased it the april after the release, however the menu version is 4.2U and I would prefer to not have to update to 4.3U.

thats why i pretty much forever refuse to do that. although had it worked i could just do indian pwns or stack smash. i have both games. i did try the lense cleaner but it failed. i think my laser just finally up and gave out on me.. it had been causing me a lot of trouble for 2 years now.. ohh well rip wii 2007 hello black wii 2010
