Lol, ok if its a driver problem download this program http://www.drivermax.com/download.htm it will tell you if there is any hardware confict or if you have an old version.
Did you shut the computer down(or went out o battery) instantly? maybe any windows dll is wrong, i would try to reinstall windows (not by formating!!) and it should work, or just replace the dll that wiird uses (i dunno what ones uses, link, if you please...)

If it was a driver problem then wiird.exe would show an error.. wiirdgui.exe does not communicate with the USB Gecko in any way!

WiiRd - besides regular Win32 DLLs it only used ftd2xx.dll - WiiRd GUI exe only handles Win32 DLLs and WiiRd itself
